IT recruitment company: a secure, multi-country cloud desktop that finally works

The challenge
Recruitment firms hold large amounts of sensitive candidate and client data, and after two firms in the sector suffered data breaches, this client wanted that data kept in a secure, centrally managed cloud environment rather than on individual laptops. Its staff worked from virtual desktops, but Microsoft Teams and Zoom calls were close to unusable: robotic audio and lagging video made the platform a daily frustration for consultants who spend their day on calls.
What we did
- Tested a range of cloud configurations, including GPU-accelerated servers and private cloud, to find the root cause of the call quality problem rather than accepting it.
- Rebuilt the virtual desktop environment on IONOS Cloud, using a desktop delivery platform optimised for real-time voice and video.
- Moved the client’s workloads away from its previous hyperscale cloud platform onto IONOS infrastructure.
- Deployed the secure desktop environment across every country the client operates in, with candidate data kept off local devices.
The result
Calls are now clear and reliable inside the virtual desktop, consultants in every country work from the same secure environment, and the client’s cloud infrastructure costs fell by around two-thirds. The project was featured as a success story by IONOS. Read the IONOS case study.
